Vehicle stolen at gunpoint in Fleetwood

Stolen vehicle involved in a collision in Langley early Friday

A man had his vehicle taken at gunpoint in Fleetwood Thursday (Jan. 23), police say.

The stolen vehicle was later involved in a two-car collision in Langley the following morning (Jan. 24).

The RCMP Surrey Provincial Operations Support Unit responded to a robbery call in the 8700 block of 160 Street in Fleetwood around 5 p.m. Thursday.

The male victim told police that there were two male suspects, but only one of them pulled a gun and demanded his keys, Surrey Police Service media liaison Ian MacDonald said. The suspects then drove off in the stolen Subaru. Police did not find the suspects or vehicle after sweeping the area.

"This morning at 5:45 am, a two-vehicle collision was reported in Langley at Fraser Highway and the Langley Bypass.  Involved in that collision was the stolen Subaru and a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck," MacDonald said.  "Witnesses observed the lone male occupant of the stolen vehicle flee from the area on foot immediately after the crash.  Fortunately, the driver of the Toyota was not seriously injured.  Langley RCMP members attended the scene and with the assistance of a K9 unit attempted to locate the suspect."

Anyone in the 8700 block of 160 Street around 5 p.m. Jan. 23 who has any information, including dashcam footage or CCTV footage, is asked to call Surrey Police Service at 604-599-0502 and quote file 2025-4380 (SU).

To make an anonymous report, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or solvecrime.ca

MacDonald added that armed carjackings are rare in Surrey, "with this being the only incident of this kind thus far in 2025."
