Surrey woman reportedly shot in the head

The 21-year-old woman was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries

A Surrey woman was rushed to hospital in non-life threatening condition after suffering a from a gunshot wound to the head on Friday evening.

RCMP responded to a home in the 16100-block of 92 Avenue at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 15th after reports that a 21-year-old woman had been shot by a 21-year-old man.

Surrey RCMP confirmed on Monday that the woman had been shot in the head. However, the woman was conscious and breathing when paramedics arrived on scene. She was rushed to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The man and the woman were both known to each other, and a witness at the scene said that they were a couple. However, they were not known to police, according to Surrey RCMP.

A witness at the scene told Black Press that Surrey RCMP went in and secured the shotgun that was accidentally discharged when the woman was shot on Friday evening. However, Surrey RCMP would not confirm on Monday if a shotgun was used in the incident.

Surrey RCMP’s General Investigation Unit was called to the scene. They canvassed the neighbourhood looking for information following the incident.
