Nominations are now open for the 2025 Business Excellence Awards.
Since 1951, the Delta Chamber of Commerce has recognized outstanding business persons and organizations in Delta and Tsawwassen First Nation at its Business Excellence Awards Gala (formerly the Hats Off to Excellence Awards).
Honourees are chosen based on the criteria of professional accomplishments, leadership, initiative and community involvement. Finalists will be honoured and winners celebrated at the 74th annual gala, presented by the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority, on Friday, Oct. 24 at Tsawwassen Springs.
This year’s awards will be handed out in eight categories: Rising Star Business, Small Business of the Year, Medium Business of the Year, Large Business of the Year, Sustainability Award, Charitable or Non-Profit Organization of the Year, Business of the Year and Business Leadership Award.
The Rising Star Business award recognizes a newly-founded (one- to three-year-old) independent for-profit business that has demonstrated operational success and growth while maintaining a positive work environment and a strong commitment to the community.
The Small (1-10 employees), Medium (11-39 employees) and Large (40+ employees) Business of the Year awards recognize for-profit businesses that have achieved steady growth, implemented new technology or broken into a new market while demonstrating a positive work environment, strong growth potential and a commitment to the community.
Business of the Year recognizes a for-profit business nominated in one of the above four categories that has achieved continuous growth, is a leader in its industry, has adopted new technologies or has entered news market while serving as an inspiration and a role model to other businesses by demonstrating a positive work environment, strong growth potential and a commitment to the community.
Introduced last year, the Sustainability Award recognizes a for-profit business dedicated to environmental sustainability that has reduced its environmental impact through improved processes, new technology, the reduction of energy/waste, and other sustainable practices. The business must also demonstrates community leadership and encourage sustainable business practices from others.
Also introduced last year, the Charitable or Non-Profit Organization of the Year Award recognizes a registered, locally-based not-for-profit organization that enhances the community through financial, volunteer or project-based contributions, thereby improving infrastructure and making "Delta" a better place to live, work and play.
The Business Leadership Award (formerly Citizen of the Year) recognizes an individual who demonstrates exceptional business leadership and has made a significant impact on the community. This person exemplifies community engagement, economic development, innovation and social responsibility, leaving a lasting influence and serving as an inspiration to others.
Businesses, organizations and individuals nominated for awards must be based in or have operations in Delta and/or TFN, but do not need to be chamber members.
Similarly, anyone can nominate a business, organization or individual at deltachamber.ca/business-excellence-awards, not just chamber members. (Self nominations are permitted.)
Previous winners are ineligible to win the same award category for two years.
The nomination deadline is Monday, June 30.
