Police are investigating after shots were fired in a residential neighbourhood of North Delta.

According to the Delta Police Department, officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 7500-block of Minster Drive East about 3 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 31.

"The investigation has determined shots were fired into an unoccupied vehicle parked in the driveway of a residence," reads a department press release.

"No injuries have been reported."

Police say two male suspects dressed in black clothing were seen leaving the area.

"While still early in the investigation, investigators do believe this to be a targeted incident," the release states.

Police have not said whether they believe the shooting to be related to the ongoing Lower Mainland gang conflict.

The shooting took place in a residential area, only blocks away from Chalmers Elementary, Burnsview Secondary, Chalmers Park and Sungod Recreation Centre.

Just after 3 p.m. on Saturday afternoon, the department said its officers would be in the area for an extended period of time collecting evidence and conducting a door-to-door canvas.

Investigators are looking for CCTV and dash camera video from the area recorded between 2:30 a.m. and 3:10 a.m.

Anyone who lives in the neighbourhood or was travelling in the area between those times, or anyone who may have witnessed the incident, is asked to contact the Delta Police Department at 604-940-7321 or email tips@deltapolice.ca.
