Re: "Mayor's motion for more bus shelters in North Delta defeated," Nov. 21, 2024

Dear Sir,

I read with interest your article regarding how Councillor Dylan Kruger and some of his colleagues spiked Mayor Harvie’s proposal for covered bus stops in North Delta.

His reasoning seemed to be that something as far reaching as covering bus stops required a detailed and comprehensive city-wide transportation and development study, if not the core principles of equity, inclusion, fairness, etc. would be violated. Very commendable.

I would also request that expediency be included in the list of guiding principles.

We all know Rome wasn’t built in a day; we are even more aware that the George Massey Tunnel replacement has yet to be built. Let’s hope bus shelters don’t meet the same fate.

We continue to wait with all our remaining patience and optimism at our al fresco bus stops for good news.

Ken Klompas, North Delta
