For one night only, multi-award-winning musician Jim Byrnes is bringing the blues to Delta.
The Order of Canada recipient will play Ladner's Genesis Theatre on Saturday, Nov. 2, backed by Eric Reed on guitar, Simon Kendall on keyboard, Rob Becker on bass, and Geoff Hicks on drums.
For nearly fifty years, Byrnes has crooned, drawled, belted, hollered, and sweet-talked more songs into a microphone than most people ever get to hear in a single lifetime, boasts a brief bio posted to the theatre's website.
By age thirteen, Byrnes was singing and playing blues guitar, and over the years he has had the great good fortune to appear with a virtual who’s-who of the blues, from Muddy Waters and John Lee Hooker to Taj Mahal and Robert Cray.
To his many music awards — including Junos, Maple Blues Awards and Canadian Folk Music Awards — Byrnes added the Order of Canada in 2022, an honour that acknowledged his impact on the Canadian arts scene as well as his philanthropic work.
Reserved tickets for Byrnes' November show are $50 and available for purchase at genesis-theatre.tickit.ca.
Genesis Theatre is located at 5005 45th Ave., adjacent to Delta Secondary School.
