The city is holding a "Plan-A-Thon" for Delta homeowners interested in building coach houses, secondary suites or other small-scale multi-unit housing forms on their property.
The City of Delta’s Development Department will be available at the North Delta Recreation Centre on Saturday, Nov. 23 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to provide residents with a one-stop-shop for in-person support for their development questions.
“Since the province introduced new regulations allowing for more small-scale multi-unit housing in single-family neighbourhoods, the city has received many questions from homeowners about what is possible on their properties,” Doreann Mayhew, Delta’s general manager of development, said in a press release.
“This unique event will make it easy for homeowners to get personalized advice and access the technical experts in one room.”

Attendees will get the opportunity to sit down with a city planner to review what small-scale housing may be possible on their individual properties; discuss what water, sewer or storm water upgrades might be required to support their project; learn the requirements for building a secondary suite; understand what plan checkers look for in project drawings; and get tips on how to pass inspections once their project is complete.
The event will also include draw prizes, giveaways, refreshments and activities for children.
For more information about the event, homeowners can email development@delta.ca or call 604-946-3380
