The City of Surrey's selling the trees again.

The second of four tree sales this year is underway, with a May 25 pick-up date at the Surrey Operations Centre at 6651 148 St. It's a maximum three trees per Surrey residence.

For $20 per tree, Surrey residents can spruce up their yards and help keep the city green. The trees are five to 12 feet tall, come in three or five-gallon pots and are available while supplies last. Species include apple, cherry, dogwood, magnolia, maple and pear, among others.

“The City of Surrey’s tree sale is one of our most popular events with trees selling out regularly and quickly,” Mayor Brenda Locke stated in a press release. “Each sale date will have only 1,000 trees available for purchase. If you are interested in picking up one, make sure to mark your calendar as the trees are sold on a first come first serve basis."

The press release states that Surrey’s tree sale program is designed to help protect and grow the city’s urban forest on private property. "Trees planted help protect our environment and improve livability in our community by helping to improve air and water quality and providing shade and insulation," it reads.
