Nearly 12 hours of family fun will be in store at White Rock's Canada Day by the Bay celebration.

After opening remarks from White Rock Mayor Megan Knight at about noon on Tuesday, July 1 down at the beach, the winner of the White Rock’s Outstanding Canadians on the Peninsula award will also be presented. Following that will be endless fun for all residents and visitors alike.

Setting the tone for the day will be several musical performances with headliner The Guess Who Tribute to share tunes from the band and Burton Cummings to make the day extra Canadian.

A new addition this year is the Kids Zone stage with performances and entertainment scheduled all day long, including a ventriloquist-comedienne, a pan-drum performer and more.

There will also be an opportunity for visitors to be captured in the drone shot taking place at about 3:30 p.m. Come adorned in red and white with flags and anything else festive. If your personal collection is scarce, the city will be handing out hundreds of miniature Canadian flags for the taking.

Face painting, crafts, balloon artists and more will be available for children while a row of vendors will also be present for local goods.

And finally, to end Canada Day in the most appropriate way, a firework show will light up the sky, beginning at 10:15 p.m.
