With 10 seats in Surrey up for grabs, both BC NDP leader David Eby and BC Conservative Party leader John Rustad have their sights set on winning voters in British Columbia's second-most-populous city.
Add in another seat for Delta North, and the 11 ridings that span the Surrey-White Rock-North Delta region are fertile ground for anyone hoping to claim a majority of seats in British Columbia in the province's 43rd general election.
Whether the local electoral map will lean towards blue or orange will depend upon the inroads both parties and their candidates — a mix of incumbents and newcomers, with some well-known names returning to the fray — make south of the Fraser before the Oct. 19 Voting Day.
Elections B.C. has published the final list of candidates for the election, after nominations closed at 1 p.m. on Sept. 28. Thirty-seven candidates in total are in the running in Surrey's 10 ridings, with another four names in Delta North.
