Almost one-third of North Delta voters have already cast their ballots

Nearly 30 per cent of registered voters in Delta North cast their ballots during advance voting this election.

A record number of B.C. residents took part in advance voting Oct 10-16 (polls were closed on Thanksgiving day, Oct. 14), surpassing one million ballots cast according to figures released by Elections BC on Thursday (Oct. 17).

In Delta North, 10,513 of 35,553 voters registered by Oct. 7 (29.57 per cent) turned out for advance voting at five locations in the community — four of which were only open Oct. 12 and 13.

Last provincial election, just over 19 per cent of voters in the riding took part in advance voting — 7,362 of 38,311 registered as of general voting on Oct. 24, 2020.

Total voter turnout in Delta North last election was 56.55 per cent, or 21,664 people.

Meanwhile, advance voting numbers in Delta South this election were similar to in Delta North: 29.3 per cent, or 11,736 of 40,015 voters registered as of Oct. 7.

The previous election, 8,906 of 37,442 voters ( 23.79 per cent) registered as of general voting cast advance ballots.

Total voter turnout in Delta South in 2020 was 66.54 per cent, or 24,914 people.
