These letter writers have a suggestion for a simple and healthy New Year's resolution: walking.

Editor,

Looking for a really good, cheap and healthy New Year’s resolution?

WALKING.

This fall, we gave up our car and have discovered, to our delight, that the benefits of walking are many and easily attained.

Previously, we would have walked short distances. Now, we have found that we can walk much longer distances with little or no difficulty. Appointments and shopping, or simply getting outdoors for 30 to 60 minutes every day prove to be no problem.

The benefits we have realized are, literally, life-changing. These changes are personal, social and economic.

Not having a car leads to:

• fewer car accidents
• a cleaner environment
• huge savings
• a healthier life
• greeting really nice people
• seeing and understanding your community better.

Just do what you can. You will amaze yourself as well as your friends and family. So, let’s get out there. Change our world, and your life!
