Where's the scare in Langley?

It's officially the scary season, and here are some activities and haunted houses around Langley

What's happening around the community during the spooky season? Here's a list of haunted houses, dances, library activities, and fundraisers.

• Brinkworth Dungeon: The elaborate display is back at 22260 48 Ave. but is not expected to be open until Halloween night. The scaring will continue until about mid-November. The cost is $25 for adults, and $15 for kids six to 12 for the scare nights (actors scare patrons Thursday, Friday and Saturday). Reserved time and date scare night tickets are $30 for adults and $20 for youths (e-transfer). Non-scare night admission is $20 for adults and $15 for youths. Non-scare nights are Sunday through Wednesday. Non-perishable food donations are welcome and go to the Gateway of Hope. Watch the website brinkworthdungeon.com and its social media for updates on when it will open.

• Warren's Halloween Manor: 20294 50 Ave. has an elaborate display for Halloween. "We’ve added a few new things this year including a walk-through haunted gazebo and expanded creepy baby land. Feel free to walk through the yard and take it all in. As with previous years, we are taking donations for the Langley Food Bank. We are open every day until Halloween," Troy Warren said.

• The Little Spooky Village is at 7240 210 St. This is the second year for a display here. Admission is free, but donations are welcome to help the Adopt a Family for Christmas programs. Throughout the year at the property there are garage sales, and displays at Easter, Halloween, and other holidays to raise money. Last year three needy families (with 16 people) received help at Christmas. It is open 7 to 10 p.m. until Oct. 31. There are live characters in the photo booth from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Hot drinks and treats are available 7 to 9 p.m. The display includes everything from Peppa Pig and ghosts to zombies and spooky characters playing cribbage. There are different levels of scary so ask where not to wander.

"The Haunted Maze is a really scary closed-off covered area for people that want to try," said organizer Chadd Little. "It is controlled with limited people at a time, possible live actors inside to scare people, and many things jump out at you as you walk through. But it is hidden and postings about warnings about it."

Those with Halloween displays the public can enjoy are encouraged to submit details to the Langley Advance Times at datebook@langleyadvancetimes.com as soon as possible to be included in this listing. Be sure to include the full address, hours and dates of operation, and any charity aspect. Photos are also welcome.
