Surrey basketball all-stars to play one final game before graduation

Thursday evening (April 3), dozens of Surrey's best high school basketball players will gather for a final game and scholarship presentations prior to graduation from their respective schools.

Boys and girls teams will be in action during the 2025 Surrey All-Star Classic at Enver Creek Secondary's gym, with girls tipping off at 6 p.m. followed by boys at 7:30. 

"During the boys game we will be presenting framed action photos, produced by David Zuskind, to the first all-stars and MVP from the Surrey RCMP Classic," noted Rick Inrig, tournament organizer.

"In addition we will be announcing and presenting several scholarship winners. We are distributing over $10,000 in scholarships."

Held in January, the MVP of the all-Surrey boys tournament was Rohan Dhanoa of Fleetwood Park, and the five all-stars were Earl Akene (Pacific Academy), Luka Guzina (Tamanawis), Jack Snead (Semiahmoo), Yeseong Cho (Fleetwood Park) and Damien Onopitke (LA Matheson).

For Thursday's game, they'll be joined by Nick Baxter (Sullivan Heights), Arvin Benipal (North Surrey), Prince Dean (Pacific Academy), Sunny Dhami (Tamanawis), Jeremias Diaz-Brizuela (Kwantlen Park), Apollo Greenlay (Tweedsmuir), Ethan Hugall (Sullivan Heights), Gabby Intalan (Fleetwood Park), Riley Nuber (Clayton Heights), Dimitri Pomonis (Semiahmoo), Leo Sherwin (Earl Marriott), Gurman Sidhu (LA Matheson), Tript Sooch (Tweedsmuir), Karan Sran (Fleetwood Park), Elijah Weiss (Elgin), Noah Weiss (Elgin) and Navin Sidhu (Sullivan Heights), with coaches Graesen Oppal (Fleetwood Park) and Mike McKay (Tamanawis).

Players in the girls game are Anushka Kanagasabay (Fleetwood Park), Sammy Ma (Lord Tweedsmuir), Chloe Judson (Fraser Heights), Amel Ahmed (Guildford Park), Ashlyn Sidhu (Clayton Heights), Rahbia Bal (Tamanawis), Maggie Michaluk (Elgin Park),  Cora Juco (Semiahmoo), Manveer Sidhu Brar (Queen Elizabeth), Tia Brian (Panorama Ridge), Samar Mustapha (Grandview), Ruby Clunas (Salish), Nimrat Brar (Enver Creek), Kiran Khunkun (Frank Hurt), Kailey McKay (Sullivan), Esha Grewal (North Surrey), Maryam Chaudhry (Holy Cross), Abbey Goulet (Fleetwood Park), Saavyn Mann (Tweedsmuir), Rio Dirksen (Semiahmoo), Kaira Fremista (Panorama Ridge), Tayanna Moreno (Fleetwood Park) and Elena Bartolome (Tweedsmuir).
