A special weather statement for Surrey, White Rock and much of Metro Vancouver and the valley extended into Monday morning (Nov. 11), after a rainy weekend.
Heavy rains and strong winds were expected to continue Monday until about midday, with 25 to 35 mm of rain anticipated before it was expected to ease to a few showers near midday.
Winds gusting up to 40 km/h are forecast for the afternoon, along with the risk of a thunderstorm, according to Environment Canada.
Hazards and impacts during heightened rainfall and windy weather include reduced visibility, water pooling on roads and tree branches breaking, potentially leading to power outages.
Environment Canada as well as the cities of Surrey and White Rock reminded residents to keep storm drains and catch basins clear of leaves and debris.
