The biggest Christmas Store in Western Canada has opened for another season.
Cloverdale’s mega-Christmas emporium at Potters Nursery officially opened Nov. 4.
This is the 20th year Potters Nursery has opened its unique Christmas market.
“A visit to The Christmas Store at Potters is about much more than ticking off your holiday checklist: it’s a spirited kick-off to the entire festive season,” promises a press release from Potters. “This expansive holiday wonderland sees the full-service garden centre turned into (a) ... Christmas store.”
The 28,000-square-foot space is now open daily until Christmas Eve.
According to the release, the Christmas store is an “immersive experience” that has been a “must-do, must-see” market for 20 years and it’s “the ultimate holiday haven” for shoppers looking for decorations, gifts and unique Christmas items.
“The store boasts a wide assortment of designer trees and collectibles, thousands of hand-picked ornaments, 50 styles of Christmas stockings, stocking stuffers and much more,” notes the release. “An incredible selection of toys, jigsaw puzzles, games and gifts for those hard-to-buy-for adults on your list rounds out the inventory.”
There are also food items and thousands of other types of decorations.
This year, Potters has 33 specialty-themed Christmas trees set up throughout the store. Two very large trees are even hung upside down and spin around.
Potters says visitors will see the Christmas season “come to life” in their massive amount of decorative store displays and special Xmas sections. According to Potters, these include:
It’s a Blue, Blue Christmas: A new front entrance display greets guests with thousands of magical, glimmering blue, white, silver and gold ornaments, wonderfully woven together to create a cool, crisp Christmas look that extends from floor to ceiling and around every corner.
Dark Room: More than 40 designs of nightlights, a wide selection of Christmas-themed water lanterns, plus new LED Infinity Lights that look like two-way mirrors, illuminate this 3,000-square-foot gallery.
Candyland: Newly expanded and relocated to the Dark Room, this section is chock-full of sweet ornaments for the tree, including donuts, gingerbread, cotton candy, macarons and many more treats for the sweet tooths on your list.
Gourmet Food: This zone offers thousands of Canadian specialty products that are ideal for the holiday season. Delicacies include Potters’ Peach and Kentucky Bourbon sauce; hot chocolate in more than 40 different colours and flavours; locally-made jellies, syrups, and sauces from Krause Berry Farms and the Preservatory; and savoury seasoned pretzels from Surrey-based Those Pretzels.
Petland: Bring furry friends holiday joy with pet-themed tree ornaments, cushions and stockings.
Thru the Grapevine: Last year’s hit wine section expands to include Siesta Drinkware (cute little 3-ounce stainless-steel to-go cups that make a great stocking stuffer). Also included are Margarita, Prosecco and Sangria cocktail mixes along with wine-themed ornaments and unique gifts for lovers of wine, beer and holiday tipples.
Coca-Cola: The beloved collectibles area features an authentic 1950s diner-themed display detailed (right down to the classic checkered floor!) with Coca-Cola ornaments, figurines and more.
Men-Zone: The area has doubled and is loaded with cool gifts he’ll love—everything from soaps, slippers, manicure kits and scarves to hot sauce. It’s all curated into one large space.
Great Britain: Find British-themed delights, including tinned cookies, Corgi mugs, Royal tableware pieces and even napkins, cleverly housed in a miniature of the classic red telephone box.
Women’s Fashions: By popular demand, a large selection of sweaters, tops, jackets and loungewear, along with accessories from purses and gloves to headwear, are here to help stay cozy, warm and stylish this season.
Train Town: Track down the newest wow-factor display designed by the creative Potters team. Surrounding the train display are moving carousels, an elevated Santa on a scissor lift, tiny skating rinks, mini-ski lifts, cable cars and all sorts of other moving parts. Take a charming train set home, or simply delight in viewing the festive display.
Santa’s Report Card: Also a crowd-pleasing favourite, this much-loved annual offering is a great way to motivate kids to show Santa all the chores they have accomplished from Nov. 1 to Dec. 24.
Potters Christmas store is open daily through Dec. 24. The store is open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday through Tuesday and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday through Friday.
