A pair of free "Come Try Ringette" events are planned at Surrey rinks this winter, including Sunday, Feb. 23 at Surrey Sport & Leisure in Fleetwood, for an hour starting at 9:30 a.m.

Weeks later, Surrey-White Rock Ringette Association (aka the Hawks) will host another free session March 15 at North Surrey Sport & Ice Complex.

The events are open to kids aged four and older, from beginners to experienced skaters, with free skate and helmet rentals available (limited quantities). Activities include games, drills and guidance from coaches in what the association calls "a welcoming environment."

More session details are posted on the registration page (rampregistrations.com), visit surreywhiterockringette.com or call 778-822-9167. Pre-registration is required.

"Ringette is a thrilling team sport played on ice, perfect for kids who love to skate, play, and make new friends," says a post on the City of Surrey's event website. "Using a rubber ring and sticks, players pass, shoot, and score in a game that’s fast, fun, and safe for all skill levels. Think of it as hockey’s cool cousin—no contact, just pure excitement!"

Surrey-White Rock Ringette Association "is dedicated to bringing the joy of ringette to kids in Surrey," a bio says. "We believe in fostering teamwork, confidence, and a love for sports in a fun and inclusive environment."
