Cat rescued from treetop in Surrey after 2 days of being stuck way up there

In Newton a cat was stuck at the very top of a tree for two days before someone came to the rescue.

On Monday a local arborist climbed the tree to save the animal after nobody seemed to know what to do about the situation, near Newton public library, off 70 Avenue near 137A Street.

The cat-saving drama played out on a community Facebook page where video and photos were posted by Sami DC.

"It was up there for two days, a house cat," said Kari Simpson, who watched the rescue attempt. "It got scared, obviously, and climbed up there and wouldn't come down."

"This arborist volunteered to come, and got (the cat) in a net but then the cat jumped out and flew all the way down the tree, took off and ran across the street, just ran off. It didn't look like it was limping or anything.

"Nobody here knows who owns this cat."

At one point a crow flew near the cat, attacking it.

"The fire department didn't have a ladder tall enough, and they said the tree is about the height of a four-storey apartment building," Simpson explained.
