Get ready for some great fastpitch.
The biggest and best international fastpitch tournament in Canada is set to return to South Surrey's Softball City June 28 to July 7, bringing more than 1,500 elite athletes to the Semiahmoo Peninsula for the acclaimed Canada Cup Women’s International Softball Championship.
In addition to the Canadian National Team, some of the world’s best teams will take part including Australia, Chinese Taipei, Czechia, Greece, Hong Kong, Israel, Mexico, New Zealand, Philippines, and TC Colorado.
“At this year’s Canada Cup we will be privileged to witness some of the world’s finest athletes, who are readying themselves for the upcoming 2024 World Championships in Italy,” said Softball Canada president Scott Neiles.
“Their presence adds an unparalleled level of excitement and anticipation to the competition. We wish our women’s national team – led by Coach Kaleigh Rafter – the best of luck, and we are confident that they will do their utmost to make Softball Canada proud both on and off the field.”
A popular tournament for spectators, Canada Cup will showcase some of the top female athletes from all across Canada and the world at the national and club level. The event includes five divisions: Women’s International, Futures Select (U19), Futures Gold (U19), Showcase Select (17U) and Showcase Gold (17U).
Also returning are the Ukrainian Women’s Junior National Softball Team, who are set to compete in the Futures Gold (U19) after becoming one of the most heartwarming stories of the 2023 Canada Cup.
Last year, the City of Surrey, more than 500 individual donations and an amazing show of support from the B.C. business community combined to raise over $60,000 in just over a week to bring the teenagers to Softball City, and the Canada Cup is thrilled they can return for this year’s tournament.
