Raine Hamilton String Trio, advertised as "a string quartet, Sarah Harmer and Joni Mitchell all rolled into one," will perform a Surrey concert with American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation on Wednesday, April 9.
At Surrey Arts Centre's Studio Theatre, they'll aim "to help make live music and the community that comes with it more accessible to the deaf community," according to Surrey Civic Theatres.
"If you are deaf or hard of hearing, please call the box office at 604-501-5566 so we can seat you in the area with the best visibility of the ASL Interpreter," the concert presenter says.
Tickets start at $29 on tickets.surrey.ca.
The bandleader sings and plays violin and guitar alongside a cellist and double bass player, and their acoustic chamber folk earned a 2018 Canadian Folk Music Award for Emerging Artist of the Year.
Hamilton has toured Canada extensively, "driving, flying, and floating coast to coast," raves a post on surrey.ca. "Highlights include performing songs with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra (five times!), performing with the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra, playing a show in a cave (10 stories below the earth!), playing festivals across Canada (Vancouver Folk Festival, Vancouver Island Music Fest, Atlin Festival, Home County, Filberg Fest, Lilac Fest, Harvest Moon, Trout Forest), playing for passage on Via Rail, and meeting so many amazing humans along the way."
