• Frauds and Scams: Feb. 1, 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.; via Zoom; Hosted by Fraser Valley Regional Library. This 60-minute workshop presented in partnership with Seniors First BC provides older adults with information to protect their finances, to recognize and respond to financial abuse, and to access resources for further assistance. We focus on common scams targeting older adults, and strategies to deal with scams and check for counterfeit bank notes. Register for free at fvrl.ca.

• Enhance Your Employment Skills: Feb. 17, 6:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.; via Zoom; Hosted by Fraser Valley Regional Library. Are you looking to upgrade your skills or learn something new? • Coldest Night of the Year: Feb. 26, 5 p.m.; Cedar Park Church, 5300 44th Ave.; Delta’s 5th annual Coldest Night of the Year fundraiser walk is coming up on Saturday, Feb. 26! This fun, family-friendly fundraising walk supports Deltassist’s emergency food and seniors’ services programs. We are excited to be able to gather outdoors for an in-person 2 km or 5 km walk through Ladner, OR you can participate virtually to support Deltassist. • 2022 Delta Youth Leadership Conference: April 26, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Seaquam Secondary, 11584 Lyon Rd.; Hosted by the Delta Police Department and Delta School District. Attention Delta students! Come join us in a day of incredible learning at the 3rd Annual Delta Youth Leadership Conference. We have a full day lined up with some incredible speakers in the morning — award-winning entrepreneur and author Kendal Netmaker; DJ Baron S, the first female DJ for the Vancouver Canucks; and bestselling author, personal development coach and founder of Champion UP Adrian Starks — followed by breakout sessions in the afternoon. The day will start with a DJ, students will have the opportunity to win door prizes, and there will be free lunch provided. All student who attend the conference will receive volunteer hours. • The Wonder of Owls: Jan. 26, 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.; via Zoom; Join Fraser Valley Regional Library and Metro Vancouver Regional Park staff as we celebrate “Learning in the Great Outdoors” for Family Literacy Week. Owls are amazing! Explore the lives of these elusive raptors and find out why they are such fantastic hunters. • Teen Paper Crafts: Feb. 3, 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.; via Zoom; Hosted by Fraser Valley Regional Library. Calling all crafty teens! Join us to learn and share techniques about paper artistry. Each month will have different a paper craft-themed idea. We will talk about about different materials, methods, resources and art makers, and share our results. At our February session, we will discuss kindness and Valentine’s Day-themed paper crafts, featuring a pop-up card and mindfulness jars. Join us for some mindful and positive creations! Join FVRL staff and Urban Safari Rescue Society as we take a trip through the interesting world of animals. Meet insects, tarantulas, reptiles, snakes, turtles, ferrets, a sugar glider and more. Discover how to protect animals in the wild, and learn about their characteristics, habitats, adaptations and defences. • Social Media Awareness, Digital Citizenship and Cyberbullying Workshop: Jan. 20, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.; via Zoom; Hosted by the Delta School District. Parents of school-aged students are invited to attend this free timely and informative workshop on social media awareness, digital citizenship and cyberbullying with Safer Schools Together. As a parent, you lead the charge as a digital role model. Help your child develop a strong citizenship foundation while reminding them that their digital tattoo reflects their real and online selves. Parents have an important role to play in providing support and guidance during critical periods. • Late French Immersion Program Online Q&A Session: Jan. 26 and 27, 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.; via Zoom; The Delta School District is hosting a free online question-and-answer session via Zoom. • Delta School District Kindergarten Registration: Feb. 14-20; online; Kindergarten registration for the 2022/23 school year runs Feb. 14-20. As a result of the pandemic, the registration process will be online again this year. Detailed instructions on how to register will be posted on the district’s website (https://www.deltasd.bc.ca/schools/student-registration/kindergarten/) in early February. Please note: Schools will not accept registration documents in person. The Delta School District offers a wide range of learning options for all students, including traditional schools, French immersion, international baccalaureate, Montessori and Home Quest.

• Holiday Money Hangover: Jan. 25, 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.; online via RingCentral; Hosted by Fraser Valley Regional Library. The party’s over, the damage is done and it is hard to remember exactly what happened. It would be nice to sit back and relax, but if you are stressed about your holiday bills, relaxing is probably the last thing on your mind. What can you do to stop the vicious cycle of falling into debt every holiday season? Our free holiday money hangover workshop focuses on how you can pay off your holiday debts and how you can plan ahead so that you’ll never accrue this type of debt again. Join us for an interactive and fun workshop where you will walk away with an understanding of your current holiday debt situation, a plan on how to address your holiday debt, and suggestions on how to avoid this debt in the future. All participants will walk away with ideas, resources, and the full curriculum upon request. Oily game show host, Reginald Smarmy, brings his popular game show Who’s Dying to be a Millionaire? to the small town of Old New Plunketville. The locals swarm to the show, but before contestants finish answering their challenging questions they fall down… dead! The local sheriffs are called in to investigate and craziness ensues between the police chief, the studio vice president, a rival show host, star-struck city council members, and the show’s director! • Free Yoga Classes: various days and times; via Zoom; Deltassist is now offering five free online yoga classes each week. Registration is ongoing and you can enjoy the classes from the comfort of your home. The Yoga for Stress Relief program runs Mondays from 6-7 p.m. (Yin Yoga), Wednesdays from 7-8 p.m. (Restorative Yoga) and Fridays from 10-11 a.m. (Hatha Yoga). Meanwhile, the Yoga Towards Recovery program runs Mondays from 7:30-8:30 p.m. (Wind Down Yoga) and Tuesdays from 6:30-7:30 a.m. (Rise & Shine Yoga). SUPPORT GROUPS

• Grief Circle: Jan. 26 to March 2, 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.; via Zoom; Delta and Tsawwassen First Nation residents struggling with grief and loss are invited to join Heron Hospice Society’s Grief Circle. Small group sessions will be held online over six weeks starting in late January, with one follow-up session. In order to allow for individual sharing, there are a limited number of spaces available. • From Safety to Self-Compassion: Thursdays, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.; Deltassist, North Delta office, 9097 120th St.; This group is for women who are survivors of childhood sexual abuse. The group will create a safe environment for you to give voice to your story and feel validated. You will be encouraged to create your own internal and external safety. The group will cover topics like establishing boundaries, consolidating a sense of self, reflecting on the journey and cultivating a future from here on. Please note that this is an in-person group and Deltassist is taking all necessary precautionary measures to ensure everyone’s safety to minimize the transmission of COVID-19.
