VIDEO: Cougar Creek invasive species removal

Lower Mainland Green Team and Cougar Creek Streamkeepers work together to protect Cougar Creek

The City of Delta, Lower Mainland Green Team and Cougar Creek Streamkeepers worked together this weekend to provide an opportunity for participants to observe, explore and protect Cougar Creek, Delta’s most productive salmon stream.

The day kicked off with the Lower Mainland Green Team demonstrating an invasive species removal. Participants helped protect a group of young trees from being overrun by Himalayan Blackberry plants.

Following the removal, the Cougar Creek Streamkeepers provided a two hour guided tour into the Cougar Creek canyon where followers were able to spot young coho salmon and cutthroat trout.
