Volunteers prepare meals for Crossroads United Church’s monthly community dinner.

For over five years, Crossroads United Church has been offering free monthly fresh and nutritious meals on the fourth Saturday of every month. Around 100 different people each month – seniors, folks on disability and parents or grandparents with young children – have enjoyed the hot meal served in a safe environment with warm hospitality at Crossroads.

On March 4, Crossroads will host a different kind of dinner: a fundraiser. This event will both showcase the monthly community dinners (the meal served that night will be one of the regular menus that is offered) and highlight the social conditions in our neighbourhood that have made these community dinners such a resounding success.

By inviting the public to attend, the community dinner team hopes to invite further partnerships in support of the dinners and to deepen the conversation about poverty in our community.

Doors will open at 4:30 p.m. and those attending will be invited to peruse several tables of silent auction items, view the Crossroads kitchen equipment wish list and enjoy time to connect with others.

At 5 p.m., a short presentation will be given, including brief testimony from volunteers and guests of the dinners at Crossroads. Then, the guests will be welcomed into the hall for the dinner as it usually is served.

Tickets are $25 per person, or tables of 8 for $175, and are available now by emailing tickets@crossroads-united-church.ca or by calling the church at 778-593-1043. For more information, please go to crossroads-united-church.ca/event/community-dinner-gala.
