The George Mackie Library is offering teens lessons on how to prepare for emergencies at home and in the community.

In partnership with the Delta Police Department, Delta Fire and the City of Delta, the library is holding its Teen Emergency Preparedness program on Friday, Feb. 23 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the North Delta Public Safety Building (11375 84 Ave.).

North Delta residents in Grades 10 through 12 can earn seven volunteer hours while learning how to be prepared and protect themselves, their families and their friends in case of a disaster, as well as get a taste of what Delta’s Emergency Services personnel do on the job.

Registration is required in order to take part in the program. For more information or to register, please contact Sylvia Hampton at sylvia.hampton@fvrl.bc.ca or call 604-594-8155.

The Teen Emergency Preparedness program will also be offered to Ladner students on Friday, April 20.
