The fundraising arm of the Cloverdale Rodeo and Exhibition Association has a new chair.
The Cloverdale Rodeo Youth Initiative Foundation (CRYIF) recently appointed Taylor Monastersky to the role.
Monastersky said she was “excited and honoured” to be taking the reins at CRYIF.
“I hope to be an asset in both the growth and revitalization of our foundation,” Monastersky told the Cloverdale Reporter.
The foundation is responsible for awarding several thousand dollars in scholarships each year. They also assist youth and community organizations with projects and initiatives that benefit youth in the Lower Fraser Valley
Monastersky said she was thankful for having “amazing” mentors within the rodeo association and the youth foundation.
“I am looking forward to continuing to expand the excellent work this foundation has accomplished,” she added.
Monastersky was born and raised in Surrey and recently graduated from SFU. She began volunteering with the youth foundation in 2014.
“Taylor came up through the ranks of CRYIF,” said Rick Hugh, past chair. “(She) started as a volunteer while in high school, became a CRYIF youth advisor, applied for and won a CRYIF scholarship in her graduation year, went on to become a director, and is now chair of the foundation.”

Several thousand dollars are available. The foundation offers scholarships to students who’ve used their free time to volunteer with the Cloverdale Rodeo and Exhibition Association. The deadline to apply is May 26.
CRYIF was formed 11 years ago and has given out more than $80,000 to support youth in the Lower Mainland since 2014.
