SURREY — A Surrey cat coalition is asking the public to donate food and money to help cats this Christmas.
“This time of year is especially hard for low-income families with pets,” said Lubna Ekramoddoullah, president of Surrey Community Cat Coalition (SCCC). “We want to ease their burden by providing pet food as well as spay and neuter surgery to prevent costs from an unplanned litter of kittens.”
SCCC says it rescues nearly 2,000 homeless and abandoned cats in the Surrey area every year.
Cat food donations are needed all year round but SCCC is stepping up efforts in December to prevent a food shortage during the holidays.

Donations can be dropped off from Dec. 2nd to 9th at Pet Solutions in the Dell Shopping Mall at 10602 King George Blvd.
Food purchased at the store for donation will be matched by Pet Solutions, according to a release.
The public can also donate money, which will go towards the SCCC’s spay/neuter program for cats in low-income households in Surrey.
The SCCC says it often has a long wait list of cats, and hopes to get them all spayed and neutered within the next few months.
