Cloverdale Youth Park has been closed down.
Workers from Yellow Fence Rentals began installing fencing around both the basketball court and skate park at about 8 a.m. Nov. 25.
According to Neal Aven, manager of parks, bylaw officers were told kids at Cloverdale Youth Park weren’t observing social-distancing guidelines.
“Earlier this week, City staff responded to concerns reported at Cloverdale Skate Park where up to 70 people were riding and congregating in groups and not complying with provincial health requirements for physical distancing,” Aven explained via email.
“Bylaw officers spoke with individuals to seek compliance. Unfortunately, most of the individuals ignored the request. As a result, the Cloverdale Skate Park has been temporarily closed today due to non-compliance.”
Aven said city staff monitor public and private spaces for compliance with provincial health regulations related to the COVID-19 pandemic on a daily basis.
Aven did not indicate when the park would reopen.
