The City of Delta is offering a new scholarship for students pursuing trades or technical post-secondary training.

The Delta Trades & Technical Career Scholarship is open to residents who are either in their graduating year of high school or who have graduated from a Delta secondary school within the past five years.

Consideration for the five $2,000 scholarships will be based on academic achievement, financial need, the student’s community service, and a demonstrated desire to pursue a career in a trade or technology field.

To be eligible, applicants must have applied or been accepted to attend a registered post-secondary institution (colleges included) in a trade and technology program.

To apply for the Delta Trades & Technical Scholarship, students must submit their record of academic achievement (i.e. a high-school transcript), two letters of recommendation, their resumé and a letter describing the reasons for their career choice, and a completed application form (available at delta.ca/discover-delta/festivals-events/trades-technical-career-fair).

Applications must be submitted by email (prc@delta.ca) or by mail (attn: Ken Kuntz, 4500 Clarence Taylor Cres., Delta, B.C., V4K 3E2) before 4:30 p.m. on March 31. All approved applicants will be notified in writing by June 15.

Scholarships will be awarded upon written confirmation of program attendance (end of first semester) in a trades or technical program at a registered post-secondary institution.
