S+L Kitchen & Bar opens June 5 in South Surrey

Joseph Richard Group says latest venue will be ‘first modern steakhouse in the area’

SURREY – The Joseph Richard Group (JRG) will add another Fraser Valley establishment when it opens its third S+L Kitchen & Bar restaurant at Grandview Corners in South Surrey on Monday (June 5).

There are also S+L locations in Langley and Abbotsford.

The South Surrey menu is designed by JRG Director of Culinary Operations Matthew Stowe (Top Chef Canada winner) and JRG Corporate Chef David Jorge (MasterChef Canada winner), who were both raised and still live locally.

The expansion is a part of JRG’s drive to “grow its share of the casual upscale dining market in the White Rock-Surrey area,” where it also runs The Henry, The Hemingway, Edith + Arthur, and Townhall South Surrey.

The company says it will create about 100 new jobs and in a release, said it is “actively involved in supporting local community organizations and institutions such as the Peace Arch Hospital Foundation Gala, White Rock Firefighters Charity, Southridge School, and Sunnyside Elementary School.”

“We take great pride in having the décor, the staff, the menus and the atmosphere of our establishments, and our community involvement, reflect the unique communities we serve,” says JRG co-founder and CEO Ryan Moreno. “Of course, we’re equally passionate about creating great places where people can relax with their friends and enjoy spectacular food designed by talented chefs like Matt and Dave.”

JRG says the venue will be the “first modern steakhouse in the area,” offering local diners new culinary experiences like Wagyu beef and specialty oyster creations.

The restaurant will also offer items such as the East Coast Lobster Roll, Lobster & Prawn Linguine, West Coast Tuna Niçoise and Ricotta & Basil Ravioli made in-house, all paired with craft cocktails, craft beer and an expansive wine list.

“We’re thrilled to be bringing our S+L concept to South Surrey and to feature Matt and Dave in their own backyard,” said Moreno. “To have two of the best chefs in the country opening a location together is very exciting for the company and the community and we look forward to seeing everyone on June 5th.”

The new restaurant will bring the company’s number of locations to 19, counting public houses, restaurants and liquor retail outlets.
