Peter Toigo has added another title.

Already the Vancouver Giants’ vice-president of operations, Toigo was officially named the major junior hockey club’s assistant general manager on May 31.

The job responsibilities are nothing new, however.

“Peter has worked in the capacity of assistant general manager since I arrived last year,” said Giants general manager Glen Hanlon.

“I believe that now is a good time to formally announce Peter’s expanded role as we move forward.

“We feel good about the direction that the team is going in, and Peter has been a big part of that plan.”

After earning a Bachelor’s degree in business administration from Gonzaga University, Toigo worked as operations co-ordinator for the 2007 MasterCard Memorial Cup. He went on to join the Giants in 2008 as the club’s director of ream services and was named the club’s vice-president of operations in 2011 – a role he will continue to serve in while also taking on the responsibilities of assistant general manager.

“I’ve been passionate about the Western Hockey League from a young age,” said Toigo.

“I’ve also been privileged to observe and learn from some great hockey people over the last decade including Don Hay, Scott Bonner and Jason Ripplinger, and I’ve spent lots of time working with Glen Hanlon this past season. I’m excited to continue working with Glen, and I’m optimistic about what the future will bring for the Vancouver Giants.”
