Surrey woman knocked down and groped in Guildford, police say

Surrey RCMP are asking the public’s help in identifying the attacker

GUILDFORD — Surrey RCMP are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect after a woman was sexually assaulted in Guildford on Sunday.

On Nov. 19th around 8:05 p.m., Surrey RCMP say they were called to the 10200 block of 148th Street. Police say a woman called them, saying she was knocked to the ground and groped by an unknown man.

Her screams caught the attention of nearby residents who scared off the attacker before police arrived. She was not physically harmed in the incident.

The suspect followed the woman after she got off the bus at 104th Avenue and 148th Street before assaulting her.

The suspect is described as a white man with a medium build who is approximately 35 years old. He was wearing a black hoodie with his hood up at the time.

“Incidents like these are thoroughly investigated on a priority basis,” said Corporal Scotty Schumann in a press release. “If you saw or heard anything to do with this incident, investigators would like to speak with you immediately.”

Surrey RCMP are encouraging people to walk with confidence and be aware of there surroundings. They also suggest that people stay visible, stick to well-lit areas and refrain from wearing dark clothing at night.
