SURREY — Police are looking for a Langley man accused of threatening a fellow customer and staff with a handgun during a spat at a Whalley pub.

The incident is alleged to have happened on Nov. 24, at 1:05 a.m., in the 10700-block of King George Boulevard.

Mounties are looking for Shawn Lachance, 25. Surrey RCMP Corporal Scotty Schumann said Lachance got into an argument with another bar patron and alleged Lachance "eventually threatened him with a hand gun.

"Staff at the pub intervened to try to diffuse the situation."

Schumann said Lachance is also accused of punching an employee and then threatening them with the gun before taking off.

The Surrey RCMP Serious Crime Unit is looking for Lachance, wanted for assault and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

"Lachance should be considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached," Schumann said.

He is white, five feet six inches tall, 150 pounds and has hazel eyes and brown hair. "He may have a beard and also is known to wear his hair in a ponytail," Schumann said.

Lachance also has many tattoos, including "tum tum" on one side of his neck and "script style writing" on the other.

Police ask anyone with information as to where Lachance might be to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.

"Anyone who sees Lachance should not approach him and call 911 immediately," Schumann said.
