A head-on collision in the 8100-block of King George Boulevard  claimed the lives of the drivers of both vehicles.

The crash occurred at approximately 7:30 Sunday morning, and shut down King George Boulevard between 80 and 82 Avenues so the Surrey RCMP Criminal Crash Investigation Team and Lower Mainland District Integrated Collision Analysis Reconstruction Services could conduct an investigation.

There were no passengers in the vehicles, reportedly a Kia Soul and a pick-up truck.

RCMP said alcohol, drugs and distracted driving are being considered as possible causes. Several witnesses have been interviewed, but police are seeking more information.

Anyone with information who has not already spoken to police is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers, if they wish to remain anonymous, at 1-800-222-8477 or www.solvecrime.ca. Callers are asked to quote file number 2016-161598.

Meanwhile, also on Sunday, the Delta Police Department responded to a report of a fatal collision between a semi-truck and a Jeep in the 10400-block of Ladner Trunk Road.

It is believed that the Jeep was travelling eastbound on Ladner Trunk Road and went off the road to the right, striking a stationary semi-truck and trailer that was parked off the roadway.  The driver and lone occupant of the Jeep died as a result of injuries sustained in the collision.

Delta Police continue to investigate the circumstances. Police are asking for anyone who may have witnessed the collision or were on scene to contact lead investigator Const. Aaron Hill at 604-946-4411.
